Features

Track That Ride does three jobs: it shows your customers where their delivery is on a private live link, it records proof of every handover with photos, signature, recipient and GPS position, and it keeps an audit trail of each delivery. Everything listed here works in the product today.

Live tracking and arrival times

Positions come from the GPS in your drivers’ phones, so you see where every driver is without buying or fitting trackers.

  • Live driver tracking

See every driver on a live map. Positions stream from the driver's phone as they move, with the GPS accuracy recorded.

  • ETAs

An arrival time is worked out when the delivery starts and shown to the customer and your dispatcher. If it moves by more than ten minutes, the customer sees the new time.

  • Arrival detection

The tracking page tells the customer when the driver reaches the pickup point and when they arrive at the drop, based on the driver’s location.

  • Route breadcrumb

See the path the driver actually took for each delivery.

Proof of delivery

You decide what a completed handover needs. The driver’s app will not mark a delivery as delivered until the required proof is captured, so the record is complete every time.

  • Photo proof of delivery

Drivers take one to five photos at the handover, set by you. Each photo is stored against the delivery with the time and the driver’s location.

  • Signature capture

The recipient signs on the driver’s screen. You can make a signature required.

  • Recipient name and relationship

The driver records who took the item and their relationship to the addressee (for example a receptionist or neighbour), or that it was left at the door, if you allow that.

  • Delivery confirmation code

The recipient verifies their phone number on the tracking page to see a one-time code, and gives it to the driver to complete the handover.

  • Location check at handover

The driver’s GPS position and the time are recorded with the proof. You can refuse completion when the driver is further than a set distance from the drop point.

  • Proof-of-delivery PDF

Download a PDF for any delivery with the tracking code, addresses, handover details, timeline, photos and signature.

  • Proof shown to the customer

Optionally show the photos and signature on the customer’s tracking page once the item is delivered.

Proof of delivery in detail

Audit trail

When a customer disputes a delivery, you need more than “the driver said so”. The audit trail shows every step with who did it, when and where, plus exactly what the customer was told.

  • Delivery audit trail

Every status change is recorded with who made it, when, and the GPS position at the time, alongside what the customer was told and when they saw it. Export it as a PDF or JSON.

  • Separate admin and driver access

Drivers only see and change their own deliveries. Company data is kept separate from every other company’s.

Using the audit trail as a custody record

Driver app and dispatch

Drivers get a simple job list on their phone. Dispatchers get one screen for creating deliveries, assigning drivers and watching progress.

  • Driver web app

Drivers sign in on their own phone’s browser with their mobile number and a six-digit PIN you issue. They see their jobs, navigate, and complete each delivery with proof. No app-store download.

  • Dispatch dashboard

Create deliveries, assign drivers, watch them move and handle exceptions from one screen.

  • Delivery rules

Set how many deliveries a driver can have in progress, which proof is required, and whether items may be left at the door.

  • Zones

Draw delivery zones and assign drivers to them.

  • Customer records

Customers are saved automatically from deliveries, with their addresses, tags, notes and delivery history. Export to CSV.

  • Delivery and usage statistics

Delivery counts, statuses and plan usage in the dashboard.

For developers

Everything in the dashboard is also available to your own systems.

  • REST API

Create and manage deliveries, drivers, zones, webhooks and customer records over HTTPS with an API key.

  • Scoped API keys

Keys are stored hashed, carry per-resource permissions and their own rate limit, and can be rotated or revoked.

  • Signed webhooks

Get an HTTPS POST when a delivery is created, assigned, started, delivered or fails, signed with HMAC-SHA256 so you can verify it came from us.

  • Real-time stream

Server-Sent Events stream live driver positions, status changes and ETAs. A delivery’s public stream can be opened straight from a web page on any domain; the company-wide stream is opened from your server.

  • JavaScript SDKs

    Four packages on npm: @trackthatride/core 2.0.1 (API client), @trackthatride/realtime 1.1.2 (live stream), @trackthatride/react-map 1.1.2 and @trackthatride/react-native-map 1.1.0 (live maps).

  • OpenAPI specification

A machine-readable OpenAPI 3 description of the API.

What Track That Ride does not do (yet)

To save you a sign-up: there is no route planning or optimisation, no logo or colour branding on the tracking page, no multi-user office accounts, no native app-store app, and we do not send text or WhatsApp messages for you. Tracking links can be shared by email automatically, or by any messaging app using the ready-made message.

Feature questions

Is there a mobile app for drivers?

Drivers use a web app in their phone’s browser rather than an app-store download. They sign in with their mobile number and a six-digit PIN you issue, and it works on iPhone and Android.

Can I choose which proof of delivery is required?

Yes. In Settings you set whether photos are required and how many, whether a signature, recipient name or delivery code is required, whether items may be left at the door, and the maximum distance from the drop point at which a driver can complete.

Does Track That Ride plan or optimise routes?

No. Track That Ride tracks deliveries and records proof; it does not plan the order of multi-drop routes. The driver app shows directions to the current stop.

Can the tracking page show my company’s logo?

Not at present. The tracking page shows the delivery, the driver’s first name, photo and vehicle if you have added them, and your contact phone number, but not your logo or colours.

Can several staff log in to one company account?

Each company has an admin login, and each driver has their own login. Separate logins for several office staff are not available yet.
